Vitamin C, niacinamide, peptides and lactic acid can all have a place in a skincare routine. The mistake is assuming they all need to be used together, in the same order, every day.
A stronger routine is usually simpler: give each product a clear role and spread more intensive treatments across the week.
A simple morning routine
- Cleanse.
- Choose BRIGHTEN Vitamin C Serum or REGENERATE Niacinamide Face Serum.
- Apply AWAKEN Peptide Eye Cream if you use eye care.
- Moisturise with RENEW Peptide Day Cream.
- Finish with SPF such as SHIELD Mineral Sun Stick SPF 50, following pack directions.
A simple evening routine
- Cleanse.
- Apply FIRM Peptide Night Serum, followed by AWAKEN eye cream, if these steps suit your routine.
- Finish with moisturiser.
For an ingredient-focused explanation of what lactic acid does and how it differs from a face scrub, see our lactic acid skincare guide.
Where does lactic acid fit?
RESURFACE Lactic Acid Face Treatment is better treated as a dedicated exfoliation step than something that must be layered with every other active.
Use it according to the product directions and keep the rest of that routine simple.
Vitamin C and niacinamide
Vitamin C and niacinamide can exist in the same overall routine, but you do not need both every morning. If layering feels heavy or your skin becomes reactive, separate them between morning and evening or alternate days.
Is hyaluronic acid another exfoliating acid?
No. Despite its name, hyaluronic acid is used primarily as a water-binding, hydrating ingredient rather than as an exfoliating treatment like lactic acid. It can appear in a serum or moisturiser alongside other skincare ingredients. Our upcoming BALANCE Prebiotic Barrier Serum is a lightweight hydration-focused option; it is not an extra step everyone needs.
Three common layering mistakes
- Adding too many new products at once: introduce them gradually so you can tell which formula suits your skin.
- Stacking exfoliants: avoid layering multiple exfoliating acids and scrubs in the same routine unless their directions specifically support it.
- Forgetting the basics: cleansing, moisturising and appropriate daytime sun protection still matter more than the number of serums.
Read our separate vitamin C, niacinamide and peptides comparison to decide which active-led product, if any, fits your goals. Always follow the final product instructions.
Peptides are the flexible step
A peptide serum can sit before moisturiser, while a peptide cream can be the final moisturising step.
